Q&A Jeans + Honeymoon Flashback

This post was meant to be about our weekend adventures, but quickly evolved into a blast-to-the-past, all because someone commented on my last blog post. I rarely respond publicly, but the story is a gem. Someone commented about my jeans in this photo. They are my absolute favorite jeans. I was so happy to finally fit back into them post-pregnancy. They're nothing super fancy, but irreplaceable. There are at least 5 patches inside to reinforce the material so they don't continue to fray. If you want to make fun of me for saying they are from Abercrombie and Fitch, go for it! I bought them while I was an undergrad in college just SEVEN a few years ago and have been wearing them ever since. They did not have holes in them at the time, but have since grown into a ripe old age and are wearing thin. I'm at least 3-4 years beyond the respectable age to shop at Abercrombie, and I also cannot handle the music or the intense smells! They also no longer sell pants that do not already come ruined or show off far more skin than anyone should be showing off when not at the pool or beach. You did know that you must be at least 18 to purchase their catalog, right? It's full of female nudity = not a place I'd want my kids (insert sad face here) to shop. Side note: we took a German friend shopping there and he was not a fan of the music/smell either. They are just getting Abercrombie in the big cities and the prices are also more expensive. Shopping in the U.S. is always a bargain!

This was taken nearly 3 years ago in New Zealand, pre-Lasik surgery. We were on the first leg of our honeymoon. I promised might have mentioned that I would leave them on the island before we left since my husband is notsomuch a fan of me showing too much skin... but alas... it's 3 years later and I'm still sporting the old-school jeans! It was winter in NZ so we packed both winter and summer gear. Winter for the first leg, and summer for the second leg of our trip!
For those who are not yet married, I highly recommend a rockin' honeymoon and a more budgeted wedding/reception. We spent a good portion of cash on our honeymoon... but we still stand by our decision. We definitely kicked our marriage off right! We spent a week on the south island of New Zealand and another week on 3 different islands in Tahiti (Papeete, Moorea, Bora Bora). We even stayed in one of those overwater bungalows-- but only for one night because those things are super expensive!

A few of my fave honeymoon photos:
Week 1: Queensland, New Zealand

After our very short day of skiing. Visibility was about 10 feet and no trees made it quite difficult to maneuver! I remember a couple from Australia asking if we were on our honeymoon because we just looked like we were newlyweds. :)
On our drive to Milford Sound. It was spectacular.
After our hike to the top of the gondola in Queensland. We then had lunch and watched quite a few people bungee jump. We did not bungee jump and will never-- but we have jumped from a plane! And which jeans am I wearing in that photo in October 2006? You guessed it! Those holey jeans. Someone get this girl some new clothes. Looking at all these photos, I still wear most of these clothes (and shoes!) on a regular basis.

Week 2: French Polynesia (Tahitian islands)

We took a boat out to a private island. It was hardly private, but still fun.
Dinner at Tiki Village on Moorea. It's a tourist trap... but so fun and delicious!
On the boat from the airport to Bora Bora!
Ray swimming in between the bungalows
Sitting on the deck of our bungalow
Bungalow beach sunset photo!
So fun to look back on such wonderful times. It's particularly helpful on sad-baby days. Yesterday was one of them and today I'm doing okay. Fingers crossed.

Beautiful pictures. My screen saver for the past year has actually been a sunset over Moorea. :)

Oh, your future KIDS will NOT wear A&F, nor will mine. I went in there w/ a friend a few weeks ago and the stench was overwhelming. It boggles the mind that people will buy the cologne/perfume- who wants to smell like THAT?!?!?

Also, I am old. :)

Ps. more cute photos. You and the hubs are adorable.

OMG my favorite jeans are A&F. I also find it totally embarrassing and they also have holes and the hems at the bottom of the legs are worn away from me walking on them. I love those jeans.

Your honeymoon looks fabulous. I know that you'll never forget or replace Andrew, but I believe you'll be that kind of honeymoon happy again someday. I hope we all will.

I've always wanted to go to Tahiti. Now that you mention it, New Zealand, too! These photos are awesome, and you do look like "in love" newlyweds!

I hope you're doing well, and I loved your email... :)
